Carolina was born the 2nd March 2008, early before lunch time. She was a healthy and vibrant little Girl, always smiling and laughing anytime, anywhere. We always took our tommorows for granted and we never though someday things would get hard for us. Everything was normal and our family had ordinary days, just like any other persons in the world. Back in 2008, early October, our lifes changed for the worst, when, one moorning, Carolina was having a long seizure and was rushed into the emergency room of the hospital São João. we kept asking ourselfs what did she have and praying it wouldnt be serious. 2 weeks later, they told us the diagnocis : west syndrome. (see page "west syndrome") the horrible things that were told to us, are forever locked in our minds as the worst memories ever. She wouldnt walk, talk or even have any balance of her head and body. Our world just collapsed. During the following months, she was within many nurses, doctors, exams and hospitals, but anytime she was home, she'd pretend everything was okay and that she was the happiest child ever, which I think she really is.

why do I want to share our story and build up this mission?
I never though a sickness could destroy a family in psicological ways but now I know that having a child with a lifetime desease is more than just horrible. Its seing a baby in pain and not being able to help, and just have to watch it. Carolina is one in a million. She walks, talks and has balance of head and body, all against the things they told us. We can't take this for granted though. because in one second, a seizure can turn everything upside down.
I build this mission, as "Carolina's mission" and the objective of it is to find a cure for west syndrome. Its a rare and horrible desease and there are a couple of children living and battling that in our country. Around the world, millions have brain demages due to this. we have the power to stop it and to help this little children finding a hope in their lives. We can do this, do it for Carolina, do it for our future.
